Laparoscopy is an intra-abdominal surgery performed by making 5-10 mm incisions in the abdomen. It has many applications in gynecology. The advantage of laparoscopy is that the incision area in the abdomen is small, so postoperative pain is less and the patient’s recovery time is shorter. The fact that there is almost no scarring is also cosmetically beneficial.

Gynecological surgeries that can be performed laparoscopically are as follows:

  • Hysterectomy as well as removal of the uterus
  • Surgeries for ovarian cysts-clusters or in cases where the ovary needs to be removed
  • Ectopic pregnancy surgery
  • Connecting the tubes
  • Hanging surgeries for uterine prolapse
